From now on, all businesses engaged in tourism activities in Armenia must register with the Tourism Committee system and declare their operations. After verifying the submitted documents, these entities will receive a license authorizing them to conduct their activities.

The new regulation was adopted at the Cabinet meeting.

In his speech at the Cabinet meeting, Armenia’s Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, noted that the proposed project serves the interests of both international visitors to Armenia and domestic tourists. According to the Minister, it also aligns with the logic of protecting the rights of entities engaged in tourism activities and establishing a level playing field for them.

Papoyan emphasized that this initiative will be implemented entirely through digital means, in line with the policy of the Government of Armenia.

“Prior to the adoption of this project, the Government has already prepared a dedicated website, integrated into the system of the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy. Through this website, all entities engaged in tourism activities will be required to register and declare their operations. Only those entities that submit such a declaration will have the right to conduct tourism activities,” emphasized the Minister of Economy.

According to him, after registration, the documents submitted by these entities will be verified, after which they will be issued licenses allowing them to operate. Papoyan noted that this process will contribute to the transparent operation of these companies.

Armenia’s Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, added his observations, highlighting that this decision is primarily related to the increase in both inbound tourism to Armenia and domestic tourism, as well as the growing tendency of the public to purchase tourism services from companies online.
