Armenian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Albania Tigran Mkrtchyan (resident in Athens) has met with Albania’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Marinela Prifti.

According to a statement issued by the Armenian Embassy, the meeting focused on opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism and sport.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan proposed establishing a legal framework for cooperation, promoting direct contacts between cultural institutions, artists and sports organisations, as well as implementing joint cultural, educational and sports programmes.

The sides also discussed prospects for cooperation in cultural heritage preservation and digitalisation, the creative industries, youth exchanges, collaboration between sports federations, and the implementation of joint training programmes.

The interlocutors also underscored the importance of increasing tourist flows between the two countries, including through the organisation of online B2B meetings between tour operators.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan presented the International Organisation of La Francophonie Games to be held in Armenia in 2027, as well as an upcoming international conference dedicated to medical tourism.

Deputy Minister Prifti welcomed the proposals and expressed readiness to encourage further work on launching joint initiatives in the fields of culture and sport.
