Armenian Economy Minister discusses trade and economic cooperation with UAE Minister of Foreign Trade

Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan met with UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi on September 7 on the sidelines of the 15th Annual Investment Meeting in Dubai.

The Armenian Ministry of Economy said the sides discussed a number of issues related to expanding trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and the UAE and creating new opportunities.

“In the context of diversifying export geography, the importance of facilitating access to the UAE market for Armenian exporters was emphasised.

“Gevorg Papoyan proposed establishing a practical communication mechanism with the relevant UAE authorities, which would enable Armenian companies to gain a better understanding of market requirements, applicable standards and certification procedures,” the ministry said in a statement.

Gevorg Papoyan also proposed organising visits by UAE businesspeople to Armenia to familiarise themselves with production capacities, hold B2B meetings and move from trial deliveries to long-term contracts.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.

The meeting was also attended by Chargé d’Affaires of the Armenian Embassy in the UAE Vardges Hovsepyan, Armenian Consul General in Dubai Artak Avetisyan and Economic Adviser to the Armenian Ambassador to the UAE Hayk Mkhitaryan.
