Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Armenia and Georgia share the same perceptions regarding the implementation of the TRIPP project.

Speaking during a Parliament–Cabinet question-and-answer session, Pashinyan said that during his visit to Georgia detailed information was provided to Georgian counterparts on developments related to the TRIPP project, as well as on the processes in Armenia–Turkey and Armenia–Azerbaijan relations.

He added that the Armenian side also presented its assessment of the regional situation to the Georgian partners.

Responding to a question about Georgia’s position on the implementation of the TRIPP project, PM Pashinyan expressed confidence that the perceptions of the Georgian partners are identical to Armenia’s.

Pashinyan noted that the issue should be viewed from a broader perspective.

“We are talking about the transportation of goods worth trillions of dollars from east to west, specifically from China to the European Union and vice versa. Even if we open 20 parallel railways and 20 roads, they will still not be enough to service all that freight,” he said.

According to the prime minister, the current situation presents a major opportunity for Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.

“I think now is a very good time for Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan to view this opportunity as a common one,” Pashinyan said.

He stressed that the prevailing mindset in the region should be to create a fast and safe transit route for tens of thousands and millions of tons of cargo currently seeking transport routes.

According to Pashinyan, such an approach would significantly increase the revenues of all regional countries.

“At the same time, none of the countries individually would be able to service such a volume of cargo flow,” he added.
