Aliyev says Armenia, Azerbaijan work to expand trade, open new links

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the SCO Plus meeting in Bishkek that Armenia and Azerbaijan are working together to increase bilateral trade, expand the range of goods traded and establish new land transport links.

The Azerbaijani APA news agency quoted Aliyev as saying that more than a year ago, Armenia and Azerbaijan ended a conflict that had lasted for more than 30 years by initialing the text of a peace agreement.

“This has turned the South Caucasus region, which was a conflict zone for many years, into a zone of peace,” the Azerbaijani president said.

Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan is already supplying petroleum products to Armenia and facilitating the transit of cargo from third countries to Armenia through its territory.

“We are working together with Armenia to increase the volume of bilateral trade, expand its range and establish new land transport links,” Aliyev said.
