3 hospitalized in Yerevan car explosion

Three people have been hospitalized after a car exploded in downtown Yerevan on Tuesday. 

The Healthcare Ministry said that one of the victims is in serious condition. 

“One of the victims is in serious condition under intensive care,” the ministry said in a statement. The two others are in moderate and satisfactory condition. 

Ministry of Internal Affairs spokesperson Narek Sargsyan told Armenpress that a 911 call on the explosion was made at 14:43.

The blast occurred in a Toyota minivan on Amiryan Street in downtown Yerevan. Three nearby vehicles and 1 bus were damaged from the explosion. 

Gegham Asatryan, the spokesperson for Yerevan Bus, the city’s bus network, said in a statement that two of the victims were passengers on the bus. 

Authorities said they are investigating the cause of the explosion.
