A pilot program aimed at developing emotional intelligence has been launched in several Yerevan kindergartens at the initiative of Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan.

In a statement on social media, Mayor Avinyan explained that through games, conversations and various exercises, children learn to recognize their emotions, talk about them, listen to and understand their friends, work as a team and respect one another.

“Emotional intelligence is not only about emotions. It is the ability to recognize one’s own emotions, express and manage them properly, understand others, cooperate and overcome disagreements peacefully. These skills are formed at an early age and have a significant impact on a child’s subsequent development.

During the program, children learn to recognize their emotions, talk about them, listen to and understand their friends, work as a team and respect one another through games, conversations and various exercises. As a result, they are better prepared for school life, communicate more easily with those around them and acquire skills that will accompany them throughout their lives.

I am convinced that education is not only about imparting knowledge. It is also about shaping a confident, empathetic, responsible and caring person. And the foundation for this is laid precisely during childhood,” Avinyan said.
