1 minute read

Yerevan City Hall announced Friday that the Great Bridge of Hrazdan, also known as the Kievyan Bridge, has been reopened after major renovation and maintenance work was completed ahead of schedule.

The bridge had been undergoing renovation since mid-June.

City Hall said in a press release that the road and pedestrian sections have been fully renovated, expansion joints and the drainage system have been replaced, waterproofing work has been carried out, and lighting cables have been installed underground.

Until the end of the year, work will continue to reinforce and restore damaged sections of the bridge’s main arch and supports, without disrupting traffic.

Yerevan Deputy Mayor Armen Pambukhchyan said the Kievyan Bridge was initially scheduled to reopen on August 29, but cooperation with the contractor made it possible to open the bridge to traffic two weeks ahead of schedule. The bridge was reopened to traffic on the morning of August 14.
