The Commission for Constitutional Reforms is expected to convene a session next week, Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan said on Thursday.
“We will hold a session if the selected date is convenient for the majority of the council's members. We also plan to convene another session in September. We will gradually intensify the work of the council in order to have the text ready within the envisaged timeframes,” she told reporters, adding that new materials have been sent to the council members.
Speaking about the Declaration of Independence, Galyan said it is not included in the materials currently being circulated.
“I don’t think it will be included in the next set of materials, nor in the ones we’ve sent now. But as soon as it becomes a topic of discussion, we will inform the public.”
Galyan said the reform process is not linked to the Azeri government’s demands and that it is a domestic matter.
“Please do not link the topic of constitutional amendments with Azerbaijan’s demands, because that’s not true,” she said.
Baku has been falsely claiming that the Armenian constitution contains territorial demands against Azerbaijan. Armenia has numerously stated that it doesn’t have territorial claims against any country.
