Armenia sees rise in convicts granted parole

In Armenia, 117 convicts were paroled in the first half of 2026, up from 75 in the same period last year, Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan said in a statement.

“Today I would like to share some important figures and the results recorded in the penitentiary sector in the first half of 2026, which are important indicators for us as we continue reforms in a faster, more effective and consistent manner. We have recorded a number of positive indicators in the area of reintegration into society. A total of 117 convicts were granted conditional early release, compared with 75 in the same period last year. The number of decisions to ease the conditions of the security zone was 47, compared with 39 last year. A total of 33 decisions were made to ease the security zone, compared with 18 in the same period last year. A total of 101 facilities were renovated, compared with 83 in the same period last year,” Galyan said.
