Iranian First Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi has expressed confidence that “the early signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan will be an important step not only for the stability of the two countries, but also for the entire region.”
In an interview with Region Monitor, Ravanchi emphasized that Iran, as a country maintaining good neighborly relations with both Armenia and Azerbaijan, is ready to do everything necessary to facilitate the signing of the agreement.
“The past is the past. We should focus on the future. The document is ready, and the sooner it is signed, the better,” he said, expressing hope that the chapter of military clashes is closed.
Commenting on expert forecasts regarding possible military scenarios, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister stressed: “We are against any border changes and violations of territorial integrity. No one can rely on military force to occupy the territory of another country.”
According to Ravanchi, based on mutual respect and international law, the countries of the region should work together to build a peaceful future for the coming generations.
