YEREVAN, OCTOBER 30, ARMENPRESS. A senior Armenian government official has lauded the recent Pashinyan-Aliyev meeting as ‘positive’ and said that the contacts are useful.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Russia on the sidelines of the recently held BRICS summit.

Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office Arayik Harutyunyan commented on the meeting at a press briefing on October 30.

“We assess all such meetings positively in terms of dialogue and we are confidently aiming for all the processes that have been initiated, including the signing of the peace treaty, to become reality soon. I believe that such contacts are useful,” Harutyunyan said.

Asked whether there’s a chance to resolve the outstanding issues in the would-be peace treaty, Harutyunyan replied that the government sees such an opportunity.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has numerously offered Azerbaijan to sign a peace treaty with all the articles that have been agreed upon so far and leave the few unresolved points for further discussions. Azerbaijan has rejected the offer.
