Pashinyan inspects construction of new park in Yerevan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the Yerevan Botanical Garden, where he observed the ongoing construction of the Park of Life.

Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office Arayik Harutyunyan, Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Armen Pambukhchyan, and other officials accompanied the Prime Minister, his office said in a press release.

During the visit, the Prime Minister was briefed that the park is being built on an area of around 50 hectares. The promenade and bicycle paths have already been constructed, and the cascade staircases are being renovated.

The total area of the walkways is about 30,000 square meters.

Adjacent to the walkways, bicycle lanes are being built with a total length of approximately 3.5 km.

It is planned to plant around 16,000 trees and shrubs and construct an artificial lake. A new 20 km irrigation system is being installed, along with a pumping station, to serve not only the Park of Life but also the entire garden.

Outdoor lighting is also being modernized. A new lighting network with 350 park light poles has been installed along all walkways.

As part of the works, a section of sidewalk about 900 meters long adjacent to Tsarav Aghbyur Street has also been fully renovated. A parking lot for 280 cars is planned near the main entrance, as well as a smaller parking area for people with disabilities. The former main entrance is also being renovated.

A total of 5 billion 26 million drams has been allocated from the state budget for the construction of the Park of Life.

During the visit, several issues related to construction works and the project were identified. The Prime Minister instructed officials to pay special attention to the quality of construction work and to make necessary corrections, including in the design, and to submit it for discussion in the near future.
