A senior Armenian lawmaker included in President Vahagn Khachaturyan’s state visit delegation to Greece has praised the relations between the two countries.

MP Hayk Konjoryan, head of the ruling Civil Contract faction in the Armenian parliament and Chair of the Armenia-Greece Friendship Group, told reporters in Athens that Armenia and Greece maintain a high-level political dialogue and that bilateral ties are at the highest level.

“We have very close relations with our Greek partners. Today, the President of Armenia met with the President of the Hellenic Parliament, in a meeting also attended by members of the Greek Parliament. Last year, we visited Athens as part of a delegation led by the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, which had a very full agenda. Soon, at my invitation, members of the Greece-Armenia Friendship Group in the Hellenic Parliament will arrive in Yerevan. In Yerevan, we will also hold a full working discussion focused on deepening our relations and strengthening inter-parliamentary ties,” said MP Konjoryan, highlighting interparliamentary cooperation.

In this context, Armenian and Greek parliamentarians have a full agenda, both in bilateral and multilateral formats, he added.

“Our cooperation spans many areas, including political dialogue, as well as cultural and economic development. We and our Greek partners have recognized—and continue to recognize—that, while we have a high level of political dialogue and strong cultural ties, we also need to promote our economic relations, especially considering the new opportunities opening up for us as a state,” the MP said.

Konjoryan noted that, in the context of establishing peace with Azerbaijan, unblocking borders, the TRIPP program, and other major initiatives, Armenia has significant potential to enhance its investment attractiveness.
