France has urged its citizens in Iran who wish to leave the country to cross into Armenia or Turkiye.
French citizens who wish to leave the country and who have not yet registered with French services are invited to report to the country’s embassy as soon as possible, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said in a post on X.
“Travel is possible without a visa to Armenia and Turkey, whose borders are open,” he said.

People who have reported and cannot reach the Armenian border or the Turkish border on their own will be transported by convoy by the end of the week, he added.
“Teams are deployed today at both the Turkish border and the Armenian border to welcome our nationals and facilitate any consular procedures. They will then be invited to go to Turkish or Armenian airports, where airspace is open and commercial flights are operating to return to French territory,” the French foreign minister said.
The Iran-Israel conflict has shuttered airspace across the Middle East and some governments have advised their nationals to use Iran’s land borders to leave the country.
Over 600 Chinese nationals have left Iran via Armenia.
India earlier evacuated 110 of its nationals from Iran through the territory of Armenia.
Russia said on Thursday that around 550 of its nationals have left Iran via Armenia and Azerbaijan.
