Azeri FM comments on border delimitation with Armenia

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has commented on the delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

He reiterated that the two countries agreed to continue the delimitation work from north to south, starting from the point where the borders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia meet.

Speaking at a press briefing, Bayramov said that the commissions of the two countries dealing with delimitation issues hold regular meetings and discussions.

“There is an agreement on the direction from which the delimitation process of our common border should start and subsequently continue. There is agreement and mutual understanding that the work will begin from the most difficult northern section of the border, from the intersection point of the borders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, and will continue from north to south,” Bayramov stated.

He said numerous meetings have been held between the commissions of the two countries over the past period, while a number of documents regulating their activities have been adopted and approved both in Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Referring to further details of the delimitation, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister noted that they will be discussed as necessary and during the relevant period.

“Issues concerning any given settlement will be discussed within the framework of the work of the delimitation commission,” Bayramov added, apparently referring to the issue of enclaves-exclaves.
