Russia said on Thursday that around 550 of its nationals have left Iran via Armenia and Azerbaijan since the escalation of the Israeli-Iranian conflict.
“Overall, around 550 Russian citizens have moved since June 14 from Iran to Azerbaijan and Armenia with the purpose of further traveling from Baku and Yerevan,” the official representative of the Russian foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova, said at a press briefing during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 19.
The Iran-Israel conflict has shuttered airspace across the Middle East and some governments have advised their nationals to use Iran’s land borders to leave the country.
Over 600 Chinese nationals have left Iran via Armenia.
India earlier evacuated 110 of its nationals from Iran through the territory of Armenia.
