Armenia, Germany discuss expanding trade and export opportunities

Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Anushik Avetyan met with German Bundestag member and Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party member Philip Hoffmann.

According to a ministry readout, the meeting included an exchange of views on further developing trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and Germany, as well as expanding opportunities for exporting Armenian products to the German market.

Avetyan highly valued the effective cooperation established with Germany, emphasizing the importance of the economic component of Armenian-German relations. She noted that the two countries have a broad economic and development cooperation agenda, within which joint work is important for deepening bilateral economic ties, promoting private-sector cooperation and creating new opportunities.

Avetyan presented the main priorities of the Armenian government’s policy aimed at diversifying exports, emphasizing the development of new export markets, improving logistics capabilities, continuously strengthening quality infrastructure, as well as promoting direct business ties between Armenian producers and international buyers.

The meeting also focused specifically on the German Import Promotion Desk (IPD) initiative. The sides emphasized the initiative’s importance in assessing export-potential Armenian producers’ compliance with the requirements of the German and European markets, supporting efforts to increase their export readiness, and establishing direct business ties with German importers and buyers.

The sides reaffirmed their willingness to continue cooperation and agreed to clarify specific practical areas of cooperation through further exchange of necessary information.
