Armenian Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Araksia Svajyan has received Estonian Ambassador to Armenia Marge Mardisalu-Kahar and representatives of the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV).
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, the parties discussed ongoing reforms in vocational education and training, skills development, the implementation of joint programmes addressing labour market needs, and prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation.
Welcoming the guests, Svajyan noted that Armenia is currently implementing active reforms in vocational education and training and said Estonia’s experience could be valuable.
“We continuously study international experience with the aim of adapting and applying it to our own needs as much as possible. In this context, exchanging experience with our Estonian partners and examining effective models is of great importance,” the deputy minister said.
She also informed the delegation that Armenia had adopted a new Law on Vocational Education and Training as the key legislative framework governing the sector. Under the new law, work-based learning, professional development for teaching staff and improving governance have been identified as key priorities for the development of secondary vocational education.
The parties also noted that, in cooperation with experts from Estonian civil society, public institutions and the private sector, the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV) develops innovative solutions tailored to the needs of partner countries, with Armenia being considered one of those partner countries.
The discussions also covered student and graduate mobility in secondary vocational education institutions, experience-sharing and other issues related to expanding cooperation.
