Mesrop Mesropyan holds discussions with International Monetary Fund representatives

A meeting chaired by Mesrop Mesropyan, Chairman of Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC), has been held with representatives and an expert of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
According to a statement issued by the PSRC, the meeting focused on the commission’s main areas of activity and the regulatory framework applied in public utility sectors, including companies with state participation.
In particular, the discussions covered tariff-setting mechanisms, tariff methodology, and the approaches applied in the energy, natural gas, water supply, telecommunications and other regulated sectors.
The parties also discussed the process for approving investment programmes, the criteria used to assess them, and the impact of investments on tariff formation.
The commission also presented the regulatory instruments it employs to improve the quality of public services while safeguarding consumers’ interests.
The meeting also included a separate discussion on the current model of Armenia’s electricity market, as well as prospects for developing competition and further improving the sector.
