Direct flights between Bulgaria’s coastal city of Burgas and Armenia’s capital Yerevan will begin on June 4, officials announced during a business forum aimed at boosting economic ties between Armenia and European markets.

The announcement came at the “EuroBridge 2026” exhibition-forum, held from April 16 to 18 at the Flora Expo Center in Burgas. The event brought together Armenian producers and entrepreneurs, along with business representatives from across Europe, to promote trade and investment links.

According to the Armenian Embassy in Bulgaria, the forum was organized by the Made by Armenians NGO, the Armenian-Bulgarian Cooperation Association and AM-BG IMPEX, with support from Armenia’s Ministry of Economy and diplomatic missions in Bulgaria.

The Burgas Municipality and the city’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the event.

Opening remarks were delivered by Edgar Abrahamyan, co-founder of the Armenian-Bulgarian Cooperation Association, followed by speeches from Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov and Armenia’s Ambassador to Bulgaria, Tsovinar Hambardzumyan. The ambassador highlighted Armenia’s recent economic performance and investment opportunities, while thanking organizers and partners.

The launch of the new air route was formalized during the opening ceremony through a signed agreement. Operated by Electra Airways, the flights will run weekly on Thursdays, providing a direct link expected to facilitate tourism, business travel and trade flows between the two countries.

Organizers said the forum aims to strengthen trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and European Union countries, while helping businesses establish partnerships and find new distributors. Participants emphasized the strategic role of Burgas as a potential gateway for Armenian producers seeking access to EU markets.

The event drew officials from Bulgaria’s Chamber of Commerce, representatives of the Bulgarian-Armenian business community, and entrepreneurs from countries including Moldova, Italy, Greece and Romania.

The final two days of the forum were dedicated to business-to-business meetings, aimed at fostering new commercial ties and expanding regional cooperation.
