The FlyDubai flight from Dubai to Yerevan, scheduled to depart at 06:55, has been delayed following bombardments targeting Dubai International Airport. The airport schedule now shows the flight delayed until 15:00.
Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan said in a statement that four Armenian citizens registered for the flight have contacted the Armenian Consulate General in Dubai at +971585670993. The Foreign Ministry said it is maintaining contact with the airline.
Badalyan added that a special Muscat-Yerevan flight is planned for 21:30 on March 8. The Armenian Embassy in the UAE and the Armenian Consulate General in Dubai are offering free transportation from the UAE to Oman for passengers taking this flight.
The BBC has verified video footage showing the drone strike near Dubai International Airport. Videos shared widely on social media show an explosion and a large plume of smoke near the terminal. In the footage, a man can be heard describing “another drone,” and a whirring sound is audible just before the explosion.
The exact location of the impact is unclear, but the BBC reported that it appears to be near Concourse A of the airport.
The UAE’s air defence systems intercepted nine ballistic missiles and 109 drones earlier on Friday, according to the BBC.
Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian earlier apologized to neighboring states, stating that Tehran will not attack them “unless attacked first,” in a video address broadcast on state media. Shortly after Pezeshkian’s address aired, Qatar reported that it had intercepted a missile attack.
The U.S. and Israel launched what they described as a pre-emptive strike against Iran on February 28, claiming that Tehran was developing a nuclear weapon and posing a threat—an allegation Iran has denied. In response, Iran launched counterattacks, firing missiles and drones at Israel, as well as at U.S. assets and other targets across the Middle East.
