No significant influx of Armenian citizens from Iran since start of hostilities – foreign ministry

There has been no significant influx of Armenian citizens from Iran that differs from the usual flow since the start of hostilities there, foreign ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan said.

Badalyan noted that since the beginning of the hostilities, two Armenian citizens have applied to the Embassy of Armenia in Iran. One of them has already returned to Armenia without obstacles.

The process of organizing the return of the second citizen is ongoing, with the embassy maintaining constant contact.

The spokesperson said the embassy receives an average of 15–20 phone calls per day, mainly concerning the passability of the Armenia-Iran border. Border crossings from Iran to Armenia and from Armenia to Iran on the Armenian side are operating in normal mode.

"In general, there has been no significant flow of Armenian citizens moving from Iran to Armenia that differs from the usual one," Badalyan said.

"Due to communication restrictions in Iran, the Armenian Embassy is also assisting in relaying information about Armenians in Iran to their relatives.

In addition to Armenian citizens, foreign nationals have also applied to the embassy for information on the possibilities of entering Armenia. They are provided with relevant clarifications.

The embassy is also providing assistance, as necessary, to diplomats of several diplomatic missions accredited in Iran and their family members in organizing their return to their countries through Armenia’s territory."
