Armenia, Iraq hold political consultations

Armenia and Iraq have held political consultations co-led by Armenian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ani Avetisyan and Iraq’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Mohammed Bahr Al-Uloum.

The meeting took place in Baghdad.

According to the Armenian ministry’s readout, during the meeting, a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda and multilateral cooperation was discussed, including ways to further deepen trade and economic ties.

The sides also addressed promoting cooperation in the fields of high technologies, education, and tourism, the possibility of restoring direct flights, expanding the legal and treaty framework, and further strengthening cooperation on international platforms.

Views were exchanged on the latest developments in the South Caucasus and Middle East regions and a number of issues of mutual interest on the international agenda.

At the conclusion of the political consultations, a signing ceremony was held for memoranda of understanding on cooperation in the fields of youth and sports and on cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Armenia and the Institute of Foreign Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq.
