Armenian interior minister observes rescue drills in Batumi

Armenia’s Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan, during her visit to Georgia, visited the Forensic Department together with her Georgian counterpart, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, and familiarized herself with its operations.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, members of the delegation led by Sargsyan toured laboratories equipped with modern equipment and familiarized themselves with the department’s transport and technical equipment, as well as its high-tech mobile forensic laboratories.

As part of the visit, the delegation members met with Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Shalva Tadumadze and Director of the Forensic Department Tengiz Sisauri.

Sulkhan Tamazashvili and Arpine Sargsyan attended a demonstration rescue exercise in Batumi.

Personnel of the Border Police’s Coast Guard Department, the Special Aviation Department and the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs participated in the exercise.

The exercise demonstrated the capabilities to rapidly respond to incidents at sea, ensure cooperation among different units, and properly organize rescue operations.

Watercraft, an unmanned aerial vehicle and a Border Police helicopter were used during the demonstration.
