A conceptual retrospective exhibition dedicated to Yervand Kochar has opened at the Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery of the National Museum of Georgia in Tbilisi.
Titled “Yervand Kochar: The Multidimensional Genius (Tiflis–Paris–Yerevan)”, the exhibition is being held as part of the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia and under the patronage of the Embassy of Armenia in Georgia.
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia said that on the eve of the exhibition opening, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan and Deputy Minister Alfred Kocharyan, accompanied by Georgian Deputy Minister of Culture Natia Shamatava, visited the National Gallery of Georgia, where they familiarized themselves with preparations for the exhibition, its design, and the works to be presented.
Andreasyan wished success to museum director Karine Kochar and the exhibition’s creative and organizational team.
The exhibition will be open from October 8 to November 8, 2026.
The conceptual focus of the exhibition is Yervand Kochar’s innovative “Painting in Space.” The project also includes contemporary technological solutions, installations and other media, highlighting the living continuity and potential of the maestro’s forward-looking thinking.
Alongside the opening of the exhibition, the new trilingual (Armenian, Georgian and English) illustrated book-catalogue “Yervand Kochar: The Multidimensional Genius” (author: Karine Kochar) will also be presented. The publication includes valuable archival discoveries from recent years and newly uncovered documentary data.
The event is being held as part of the Days of Armenian Culture in Georgia, through cooperation among the Yervand Kochar Museum, the National Gallery of Armenia, the Center for Experimental Art (NPAK), and the National Museum of Georgia.
