Iran and Persian Gulf states to discuss navigation in Strait of Hormuz on September 14

Iranian authorities plan to participate in a meeting of representatives of the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman states, which will take place in Oman on September 14. The meeting is expected to be held at the level of foreign ministers.

According to TASS, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced this.

“On Monday, a meeting of the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman states will take place in Oman, with the participation of Iran, Iraq and other coastal states. In addition to regional issues, the results of Iranian-Omani talks on establishing safe routes for commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz will also be discussed,” IRNA quoted him as saying.

Baghaei described the initiative to hold a meeting between the foreign ministers of the Persian Gulf states as an important development and expressed hope that it would pave the way for strengthening mutual understanding among the countries of the region and contribute to strengthening common regional security.
