Armenian Education Minister Zhanna Andreasyan described the Academic City project as an opportunity to become a regional hub.
“This is a project that, following our government’s top priority agenda—the ‘Crossroads of Peace’—demonstrates the potential to complement open borders with a new perspective on substantive cooperation, transforming the ‘Crossroads of Peace’ into a crossroads of knowledge and innovation, among others” Andreasyan said at the Academic City: International Knowledge Forum in Yerevan.
The event was attended by President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, Georgia’s Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, and others.
Andreasyan noted that the government has been drawing the private sector’s attention to the development of Academic City.
“For example, tech companies can establish offices in the startup district of Academic City, initiate joint research and educational programs, and numerous events can be planned and organized at the national stadium planned within Academic City. With other sports infrastructure and a multifunctional cultural center, the city can host festivals, concerts, performances, conferences, and discussions,” the minister explained.
