The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia, Armen Mkrtchyan, had a meeting with China’s Deputy Minister of Public Security, Chen Siyuan, during a visit to China, the ministry said in a press release.
The Chinese official praised the cooperation established under the 2015 agreement signed in Beijing and expressed readiness to expand it.
Mkrtchyan emphasized the importance of effective cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries, proposing to elevate it to a new level by signing a new cooperation agreement. The Chinese official approved the proposal.
The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs also highlighted the significance of cooperation carried out through the representative of the Ministry of Public Security at the Chinese embassy in Armenia, as well as through the National Central Bureau of Interpol in the Republic of Armenia. This cooperation enables the exchange of operational information and coordinated actions between the law enforcement systems of the two countries, the ministry said.
The officials also addressed issues aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of joint activities of law enforcement agencies, particularly in areas such as combating transnational crime, including cybercrime, online offenses, illegal drug trafficking, economic crimes, human trafficking, and other types of criminal activity.
