Prosecutor General’s Office says statute of limitations has not expired in Kocharyan case

Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s Office has told Armenpress that the statute of limitations for prosecuting former President Robert Kocharyan has not expired.

The Prosecutor General’s Office was responding to circulating claims that the statute of limitations for holding Kocharyan criminally liable had expired.

Kocharyan faces three counts of abuse of official powers, two counts of receiving a particularly large bribe and four counts of particularly large-scale money laundering.

On August 27, the court granted the motion to place Kocharyan in pre-trial detention.

His eldest son, Sedrak, is also in pre-trial detention following his arrest earlier this week. They deny wrongdoing.
