EU Sustainable Energy Week 2026 in Gavar community concludes with awards ceremony

Winners of competitions held in Gavar community of Gegharkunik Province as part of “EU Sustainable Energy Week 2026”, as well as active participants in the Sustainable Energy Days, were awarded by the “Covenant of Mayors – East” programme.

According to the Gavar Municipality staff, certificates from the head of Gavar community and commemorative books were awarded to Arpi Abrahamyan, who won the drawing competition based on the number of likes on the Facebook page; Gohar Khachatryan, winner of the photo essay competition; Gandzak Secondary School No. 2, winner of the video competition; Rima Bagratyan, winner of the poster competition; and Gandzak Secondary School No. 2, winner of the handicrafts competition.

The jury’s favourites were Yura Kirakosyan, Arpi Apreyan and Nare Khachatryan in the drawing competition; Lianna Grigoryan in the photo essay competition; Gavar Basic School No. 5 in the video competition; Zaruhi Ghurshudyan in the poster competition; and Mark Martirosyan, Angelina Hakobyan and Davit Badeyan in the handicrafts competition.

The best and most active organisers were Gavar State Agricultural College named after Academician A. Tamamshev, Gavar Nursery-Kindergarten No. 3 and Karmirgyugh Secondary School No. 1.

Symbolic gifts from the programme were presented to the Gandzak House of Culture, Gavar Children and Youth Creative Centre, Gavar Nursery-Kindergarten No. 8, Gavar Nursery-Kindergarten No. 3, Gandzak Secondary School No. 2, Gavar Secondary School No. 5 and Gavar State Agricultural College named after Academician A. Tamamshev.

“The awards were presented by Hakob Sargsyan, chief specialist of the Gavar Municipality staff and officer responsible for development programmes; Hripsime Zangizoryan, leading specialist of the staff; and Artem Kharazyan, Armenia national expert for the ‘Covenant of Mayors – East’ programme.

“During EU Sustainable Energy Week 2026, 17 events were organised in Gavar, including a thematic training session and expo, a series of environmental and educational events, a quiz, thematic open classes in kindergartens, thematic training sessions and debates, an intellectual game, a trivia competition, a drawing competition and other activities. More than 1,600 people participated in the events,” the Gavar Municipality staff stated.
