Newly appointed UNICEF Representative presents credentials to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade

Armenian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Robert Abisoghomonyan received the newly appointed UNICEF Representative in Armenia, Ghassan Khalil, for the presentation of his credentials, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade said.
Congratulating the UNICEF Representative on assuming office, the Deputy Minister expressed hope that his experience and knowledge would contribute in the best possible way to the continued strengthening and development of the effective cooperation established between Armenia and UNICEF in recent years.
Robert Abisoghomonyan emphasised that education is one of the priorities of the Armenian Government, referring in this context to the ambitious reform process under way and sectoral priorities. The importance of UNICEF’s role in advancing the agenda aimed at protecting children’s rights and ensuring their well-being was also highlighted.
The meeting also addressed Armenia’s initiatives on international platforms in the fields of human rights, including child protection and education, in particular the “Education for Peace” resolution adopted unanimously within the framework of the UN General Assembly.
