Armenpress, Xinhua deepen cooperation with new agreement

Armenia's state news agency Armenpress and China's Xinhua News Agency have signed a new cooperation agreement, opening a new stage in bilateral media collaboration.

The agreement aims to expand cooperation, enhance the process of news exchange and contribute to closer ties between the two peoples.

The document was signed during a meeting between Armenpress Director Narine Nazaryan and Xinhua President Fu Hua, held within the framework of the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum 2025 in Kunming, China.

Nazaryan stressed that the agreement between the leading news agencies of Armenia and China fully corresponds to the spirit of the Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the two states, adopted on August 31.

"While the foundations of cooperation between Armenpress and Xinhua were established as early as 2009, today’s agreement attests to our firm determination to bring the peoples of Armenia and China closer together, to our commitment to acquainting our societies with the economic, cultural, and humanitarian life of our countries, and to our shared mission of presenting the success stories of our nations to the international community,” Nazaryan noted.

Nazaryan emphasized that in accordance with the agreement, the two agencies will engage in the exchange of materials and photographs, undertake professional exchange visits, maintain regular communication on areas of mutual interest, and extend reciprocal support in the preparation of media content.

"We are convinced that, in a world where the boundaries of humanitarian and cultural communication have already been erased and where technological progress has dramatically accelerated the news production chain, the building of media bridges represents the most effective path toward fostering more cultured, informed, knowledgeable, and mature societies," she said.

"I wish to express my profound appreciation to our respective teams for their dedicated efforts in bringing this agreement to fruition, and I extend my best wishes for the successful advancement of our cooperation,'' Nazaryan concluded.

Fu Hua, in turn, welcomed the signing of the agreement and voiced confidence that the partnership would be strong and productive.

The cooperation between Armenpress and Xinhua was first established in 2009 with the signing of an agreement that is now replaced by the new document.

During the recent meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tianjin, the two countries announced the establishment of a strategic partnership and pledged to deepen cooperation in various fields, including the media sector.

Beyond Xinhua, Armenpress also cooperates with several other Chinese media outlets, including China Daily and CCTV, and is a member of the BRNN media organization.

Overall, Armenpress has signed agreements and memoranda of understanding with more than 35 news agencies and media organizations worldwide, including EFE, ANSA, WAM, TASS, Moldpres, BTA, Ruptly, IRNA. Mehr Media Group. The full list is presented here.
