633 children live in Armenia’s orphanages

YEREVAN, JUNE 1, ARMENPRESS. 3500 children are registered in Armenia’s care facilities as of 2016, 633 out of whom live in orphanages, reports Armenpress.

450 of them are disabled children, 541 live in night care centers, and 2047 study at special schools.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science Manuk Mkrtchyan attaches importance to the ongoing inclusive education program in Armenia, and says Armenia has enough experience in this sense.

“Our major task is to reach the point that disabled children will be considered as an important part of their environment in educational institutions”, the Deputy Minister said.

He highlighted that no measure can completely work if the child is out of activity field.
