Armenian Speaker of Parliament meets with PACE President in Strasbourg

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 24, ARMENPRESS. Speaker of Parliament of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan on October 24 met with President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Liliane Maury Pasquier in Strasbourg on the sidelines of the PACE European Conference of Presidents of Parliament, the Armenian Parliament told Armenpress.

Congratulating on the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Council of Europe, Speaker Mirzoyan said Armenia will continue to rely on the CoE’s support in the path of resisting challenges and searching for solutions. He said since their meeting in Yerevan this year in March Armenia has taken several decisive steps in the judicial reforms agenda. The meeting touched upon the current situation around Armenia’s Constitutional Court. The Speaker informed that the Armenian Parliament has launched the reform of the Electoral Code and the Law on Parties.

The PACE President welcomed the Armenian authorities’ readiness on the path of implementation of international commitments and expressed readiness to continue the support to Armenia’s democratic process.
