Discussions on tax sector improvement held under the leadership of Prime Minister

YEREVAN, JUNE 5, ARMENPRESS. A consultation was held under the leadership of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during which the package of bills adopted by the National Assembly in the first reading was discussed, which propose revising the turnover tax rates.

According to the PM’s Office, the discussion specifically addressed the turnover tax system, existing problems, and possible solutions. Issues of tax policy were also discussed.

It was noted that the Prime Minister stated that it is necessary to formulate the motivations correctly and emphasize that the government has adopted a policy to completely abandon the turnover tax in Armenia, as it distorts the economy, the tax system, and creates an unhealthy economic environment. According to Nikol Pashinyan, it should be implemented in a phased manner, moving towards a unified single tax system.

As a result of the discussion, the PM instructed to continue the necessary steps to improve the tax sector.
