Armenia is seeking to develop new areas of cooperation with the OSCE, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan said at a joint press conference with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ignazio Cassis, head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland.
“Given the peace established in the South Caucasus, Armenia’s previous perceptions of and expectations from the OSCE have changed. We are considering how to develop new areas of cooperation with the OSCE,” Mirzoyan said following a meeting with Cassis.
“I briefed Mr. Cassis on the latest developments regarding the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the emerging cooperation between the two countries. We also exchanged views on expanding cooperation within the OSCE’s economic and environmental dimension. It is noteworthy that this meeting is taking place on the eve of the official opening of COP17,” Mirzoyan added.
As for the bilateral cooperation agenda, Mirzoyan highlighted Switzerland’s continued support for forest restoration and climate change initiatives in Armenia, as well as for the reform of democratic institutions.
