Over past 2.5 years ECHR issued 335 thousand Euro verdict against Armenia

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS. Over the past 2.5 years the European Court of Human Rights issued 335 thousand Euro verdict against Armenia, Minister-Chief of the Armenian Government’s Staff Davit Harutyunyan said at the Government’s session, reports “Armenpress”.

He presented statistical data which showed how much money Armenia paid to the ECHR for the verdicts in recent years.

Harutyunyan said 4 verdicts were issued against Armenia in 2014, for which 166 thousand Euro has been paid, 8 verdicts were issued in 2015 and 86 thousand Euro was paid, and in 2016 again 8 verdicts were issued for which 83 thousand Euro was paid.

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan asked what are the reasons of these verdicts against Armenia, Davit Harutyunyan said: “I think, the reasons are clear, those are the mistakes existing in our judicial system, of course, mistakes exist in all countries, but when the country is running out of ways to correct the mistakes, then people apply to the ECHR”.
