50 pilgrims from Uruguay pay visit to Catholicos Aram I

YEREVAN, AUGUST 7, ARMENPRESS. About 50 pilgrims from Uruguay visited Holy Mother of God Church (Sourp Asdvadzadzin) in Bikfaya on August 6. Armenpress was informed on the latter from the official website of the Armenian Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia. They strolled with great admiration along the territory of the newly reconstructed church, and visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial and other structures.

Then the pilgrims visited His Holiness Aram I. His Holiness recalled his one-day-visit to Uruguay in 1983 and expressed his appreciation about the commitmentof Uruguay communityto Armenian values and traditions.

His Holiness also made reference to the support of Uruguay Republic in the Armenian cause reminding that Uruguay was the first state to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide. The pilgrims visited Mother Cathedral in Antelias and got acquainted with different parts of the cathedral especially the Cilicia museum.

The day before they had visited Armenian Genocide Orphans’ “Aram Bezikian” Museum. The pilgrims from Uruguay are members of “Marash” Compatriotic Union and the pilgrimages to Lebanon and Armenia were organized with the cooperation of “Marash” Compatriotic Unions of Uruguay and Lebanon.
