YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 13, ARMENPRESS:The Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia Hranush Hakobyan on February 13 hosted the painter Rafael Melikyan Megall. Introducing the artist, the Minister noted in particular that “despite his young age, Rafael Megall managed to conquer many world famous exhibition halls surprising and delighting many artists by his work. His paintings make this world more colorful, kind and light”. The Department of Mass Media and Public Relations of the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia informed “Armenpress” that the Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia Hranush Hakobyan awarded the artist with “Arshile Gorky” medal for spreading and making the Armenian art more recognizable in the Diaspora, contribution to the development of Armenia-Diaspora partnership by his work activity, as well as for having creative successes in painting.
ArtistRafael Megallwas born on 2 January 1983 in Yerevan.Hestarted to paint whenhewas 9 years old. In 1998-2004hestudied in Yerevan StateAcademy of Arts. Since 2008heis member of theUnion of Artistsof the Republic of Armenia.
Starting from 1995,hehas had numerous individual expositions, as well as has participated in a number of international exhibitions and has received highest appreciation of critics both in the Motherland and abroad. The recent ones are Sofa New York in 2009, Artexpo New York in 2009, Florence Biennale in 2009, Toronto Arte Expo in 2010, and individual exhibition in Armenia in 2010.
