Seven companies dealing with diamond processing issued products amounting to 2.46 billion AMD which is 6.5% less as compared with the same span of the past year. For getting acquainted with the developments and issues of the sphere Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan visited November 16 "Arevakn" and "Lori" companies of Kotayk province.
In January-June about 2.9 billion AMD products were exported which is 9.4% more as compared with the same span of the past year. About 400 employees are engaged in the sphere.
The minister said the diamond processing sphere has serious privileges. "In early 2000 we had serious volumes: the export of products amounted to 300 million USD. During the crisis years our enterprises were in rather tough situation but during this year we may clearly say that the sphere not only left the crisis behind but increases its volumes," Davtyan said.
He voiced hope that by the end of the year we will reach pre-crisis volumes.
In the issue of diamond raw supply the Armenian companies are mainly cooperating with Russian "ALROSA" company. As of November 1 of the running year diamond raw amounting to about 39.16 million USD has been imported.
