Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan once again denied claims that the counting of the 2026 parliamentary election results was halted, saying the CEC website was continuously updated throughout the process.
He made the remarks in parliament, responding to questions raised by lawmakers.
“It was said that they halted the counting. I don’t know how many times I have to repeat that this did not happen. The only situation in which someone could have gotten the impression that the counting had stopped was if the page on their computer had not been refreshed. Our website was continuously updated. If the page was not refreshed, the old figure that the person had last seen would remain on the screen,” Hovakimyan said.
The CEC chairman stressed that the process of legally challenging the election results has ended, but discussions on problems recorded during the electoral process and gaps in legislation should continue.
“Each of you, in accordance with your political views, is trying to challenge the elections. Once again, I remind you all that the legal challenge process has ended. Let us discuss the problems,” he said.
Addressing individual incidents recorded during the electoral process, Hovakimyan said the CEC had not ignored any of the issues raised.
“In a process involving around 42,000 people, it is impossible to rule out all shortcomings. I have said that there were shortcomings, but we followed up on all of them and provided quick solutions. No case remained unresolved,” the CEC chairman concluded.
