Campaigning for October 25 local elections to begin September 30

The campaigning period for the local self-government elections to be held on October 25 will begin on September 30 in communities where elections are held under the proportional electoral system, and on October 5 in communities where elections are held under the majoritarian electoral system.

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) said that in both cases, the campaign will end at midnight on October 23.

Elections under the proportional electoral system will be held in the communities of Artashat in Ararat Province; Armavir and Araks in Armavir Province; Gavar, Martuni and Vardenis in Gegharkunik Province; Hrazdan, Tsaghkadzor and Garni in Kotayk Province; Artik and Akhuryan in Shirak Province; Goris and Meghri in Syunik Province; Yeghegnadzor, Vayk and Jermuk in Vayots Dzor Province; Ijevan and Dilijan in Tavush Province; and Stepanavan in Lori Province.

Elections under the majoritarian electoral system will be held in the communities of Fioletovo in Lori Province and Shamiram in Aragatsotn Province.

The CEC reminded that during the campaign, as well as on the day preceding the voting and on voting day, it is prohibited to give or promise voters money, food, securities, other goods or services. Campaign materials may not be placed, in particular, in schools, public catering and commercial establishments, elevators, public transportation and taxis. It is also prohibited to remove, tear down or damage campaign posters.
