Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan has explained the purpose of his regular surprise visits to military units, saying they help reveal problems that may not be visible during routine visits and assess how well units follow their daily schedules.
On September 9, Papikyan once again made a surprise visit to a military unit stationed in one of Armenia’s regions. He observed the morning routine, including physical training, and joined the troops for breakfast.
“The question is often asked: What do these surprise visits give us? First of all, they reveal problems that are not visible during routine visits, because, as a rule, preparations are made for a [planned] visit and work is carried out that is not done as part of the normal daily routine. Most importantly, it becomes clear to me how well each military unit is following the daily schedule,” the Defense Minister said on social media.
