Laboratory irregularities have been found in samples of chicken and trout fillets used in the kitchen of the Armenia Marriott Hotel following inspections carried out in connection with 12 people who sought hospital treatment with a diagnosis of “acute intestinal infection” after a reception held at the French Embassy in Armenia on July 14.
According to Armenia’s Food Safety Inspection Body, checks were carried out in the kitchen of Armenia Hotel Complex CJSC, where samples of a number of food products were taken and submitted for laboratory examination.
The examination found that trout fillet produced by Food Republic LLC did not comply with established requirements for mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms, as well as bacteria of the E. coli group. The Inspection Body issued orders banning the sale of the relevant batches and requiring them to be recalled from the market and either destroyed or disposed of.
During the inspection, expired food products were also found in the hotel kitchen, including toast bread, flatbread, rye flour and Parma bread with no expiry date indicated. The hazardous food products identified were destroyed on site.
Following the laboratory examination results, control measures were also carried out at Arax Poultry Farm CJSC and Food Republic LLC. No irregularities were found in the examination of new samples taken there.
After the reception held at the French Embassy on July 14, 12 participants in the event sought hospital treatment with a diagnosis of “acute intestinal infection”.
