Russia has asked the United States to clarify the involvement of U.S. intelligence in strikes on civilian infrastructure, including attacks on oil refineries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.
Lavrov said Moscow was not issuing an ultimatum.
“We have submitted a number of questions to the State Department, asking for clarification, including regarding intelligence data and the fact that the United States is much more deeply involved in organising and carrying out strikes on civilian facilities on Russian territory,” Lavrov said.
The Russian foreign minister was responding to a question about the possibility of issuing an ultimatum to U.S. presidential special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner during negotiations.
In July, Lavrov said that implementing the agreements reached between Russia and the United States following the meeting in Anchorage would make it possible to end the conflict in Ukraine.
Lavrov also said in the interview that Russia was not refusing to hold talks with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and that Russian President Vladimir Putin was ready to receive them.
