Minister Andreasyan, Iranian counterpart discuss cultural cooperation

Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan met with Iran’s Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Seyyed Reza Salehi-Amiri, who arrived in Yerevan as part of the delegation led by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Deputy Minister Alfred Kocharyan also attended the meeting, the ministry has said.
Welcoming her counterpart, Andreasyan stressed the importance of the Iranian president’s visit to Armenia, expressing confidence that it would strengthen centuries-old friendship and promote new cultural initiatives.
Among the issues discussed was the organization of a jubilee concert marking the 100th anniversary of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra at the Persepolis complex in Iran. Andreasyan said the event would further foster bilateral ties.
She also highlighted the initiative to open an Armenian corner in the National Library of Iran, where 15 books on Armenian history and culture will soon be transferred through the mediation of Armenia’s Foreign Ministry.
The ministers discussed cooperation in cinema, the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage monuments, as well as the exchange of experience between specialists of the two countries. They also emphasized the potential of joint applications to UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List, organizing exhibitions, and developing museum partnerships.
Salehi-Amiri expressed gratitude for the reception and underlined the importance of expanding cultural ties in the context of strengthening friendly relations between the Armenian and Iranian peoples.
