Iran calls on all countries to refuse participation in US economic war

All independent countries should refuse to participate in the United States’ economic war against Iran and should not recognise anti-Iran sanctions, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic.

“US economic sanctions against Iran, regardless of their name or form, are absolutely illegal and unjustified measures that violate the UN Charter, international humanitarian law and human rights. Accordingly, all countries are obliged to refrain from complying with and implementing these sanctions. In addition, all states are obliged not to recognise situations or consequences arising from these illegal actions and not to support them,” the statement said.

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the participation of other countries in the economic war waged by the United States would amount to “illegally imposing the will of one state on other independent countries”, which constitutes another gross violation of the UN Charter.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced the launch of an unprecedented campaign of “economic warfare and isolation” against Iran. The US President also warned that countries whose financial institutions, businesses, airports or state bodies provide support to Tehran would face serious economic consequences from the United States.
