Armenia has conveyed to Azerbaijan information about Azeri ceasefire violations on the border but Baku hasn’t yet responded, Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan told reporters.
“We have offered Azerbaijan to create a joint commission for border incidents, to investigate incidents. We have conveyed an official document to the Azerbaijani side, we’ve had some discussions with Azerbaijan about that, and in addition, we have asked the Azerbaijani side to convey details on what Baku describes as incidents, violations,” Grigoryan said.
Grigoryan said Armenia has conducted a detailed investigation into the Azerbaijani allegations and conveyed the information to Baku.
“I can say that there were virtually no violations from our side. We have also conveyed information about violations committed the Azerbaijani side itself, which even contain video recordings proving what had happened. We expect an investigation by the Azerbaijani side,” Grigoryan said.
Grigoryan said that by opening fire across the border Azerbaijan could have the goal of trying to divert the international community’s attention from the success around the peace agreement.
“Of course there could be other goals too, we continue to monitor and try to understand the motives,” he said.
The Azeri military has been regularly opening small arms fire across the border in the direction of Armenian villages in Syunik province.
