Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan has highlighted the approval rating of the ruling Civil Contract party, emphasizing that it would secure majority of votes even if elections were to take place in a few days.
He made the remarks at a press briefing when asked to comment on the opposition’s intentions to start what they describe as an impeachment process against the Prime Minister.
Speaker Simonyan reminded that the 2021 elections were universally recognized.
“Armenia has a lawfully elected government. Even today’s surveys show that the ruling party is first and has the biggest support among the people. I am sure, even if elections were to take place this Friday, Civil Contract would win in those elections. I am sure it would win by 50+1 percent, while in 2026 probably even with more votes,” he said.
